EF Certificate in Lesson Planning

Course duration: 10 weeks

Group size: Up to 16 participants

Delivery:  Online via http://training.ef.com

Certification: 30hr EF teacher training certificate

Assessments:

1) (20%) First half of Lesson (context, warmer, language introduction)

2) (20%) Full Lesson Plan (using PPP or similar approach)

3) (50%) Full Lesson Plan (using any approach)

4) (10%) Reflective Journal of applied ideas from course 

Consider enrolling in this course if you are interested in building your understanding of effective lesson planning, either from the view of general professional development, or before starting CertTESOL or DipTESOL courses. 

 

COURSE OVERVIEW

You will learn how to approach effective lesson planning, looking at the components of a lesson plan and how they can be fit together.

This course is for teachers:

  • With at least 6 months ESL experience
  • Who hold a TEFL certificate
  • Who are willing to spend 3 hours (longer for non-native English speakers) of your professional development time a week on this course for 10 weeks


By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Write focused and effective lesson aims
  • Set meaningful context from the beginning of a lesson
  • Structure an effective language presentation
  • Set up controlled practice activities
  • Set up freer practice activities
  • Use different lesson planning models for different situations and learners (including PPP, ARC, TTT, TBL)

During the course you will:

  • Write lesson plans for your regular teaching context and reflect on their success in a reflective journal
  • Use the basic components of lesson planning (context, presentation, controlled practice, freer practice) to write 3 graded lesson plans assignments
  • Read your peers' tasks and comment on them each week, for further ideas sharing
